DSC_0857Hilton Hotels and Resorts announced that it added the Tailwater Lodge Altmar, located in Altmar in upstate New York, to its Tapestry Collection of hotels.

The property, before being converted into a hotel, was home to the two-story Altmar Elementary School. The Tailwater features lodge-style guestrooms with an earth-tone decor.

Guests can dine at the hotel’s Tailwater Bar and Restaurant, which offers what the hotel refers to as “comfort food,” as well as at the Tasting Room, which features 24 beers on tap and an extensive wine list. In addition, the Barn meeting space features a ceiling made of rough-hewn beams, and can seat up to 450 guests.

Hilton said that additional guestrooms will be added to the property by the end of 2018, as well as a fitness center, and an indoor pool.

Altmar is located in upstate New York, approximately 38 miles (61 kilometers) north of Syracuse. The Tailwater Lodge has long been a destination for guests to try their hand at fly fishing, a very popular sport in the area with some of the world’s largest freshwater fish in the world.
