Delta Reports Increase in Traffic, Capacity for November

IMG_4579 (1)Delta Air Lines announced operational results for November 2017.

The Atlanta-based carrier’s total system traffic for the months was 16.15 billion revenue passenger miles, or RPMs, a year-over-year increase of 3.5% from 15.61 billion in November 2016.  Domestic traffic also rose, up 3.3% to 10.81 billion RPMs from 10.47 billion last year, while international traffic increased to 5.34 billion RPMs, a 3.9% rise from 5.14 billion RPMs the previous November.

Total system-wide capacity for the month rose to 18.9 billion available seat miles, or ASMs, from 18.37 billion ASMs, a 2.9% increase. The airline’s domestic capacity was 12.52 billion ASMs, a year-over-year increase of 4% from 12.04 billion in November 2016, while international capacity increased by 0.9% year-over-year, up to 6.39 billion ASMs from 6.33 billion last year.

Load factor for the month was 85.4%, up 0.4 percentage points from 85% last November. Delta’s domestic load factor dropped by 0.6 percentage points to 86.4% from 87%, while its international load factor increased by 2.4 percentage points to 83.6% from last year’s 81.2%.
