Alaska Airlines Launches San Francisco-Kona Flights

Alaska Airlines announced the launch of new service linking San Francisco to Kona, Hawaii, effective December 14, 2017.

The new route will be operated using the Virgin America fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft. Flights will leave the Bay Area at 11:30 a.m. local time and arrive in Kona at 3:15 p.m. The return flight will leave Kona at 4:15 p.m. local time and arrive in San Francisco at 11:17 p.m.

“The Kona route provides yet another option for vacationers traveling to Hawaii, making it easier for Bay Area guests to experience all that makes our island special,” said Ross Birch, executive director of the Island of Hawaii Visitors Bureau.

The launch flight was celebrated with a Hawaiian-themed breakfast on board and passengers will be greeted by hula dancers and flower leis upon arrival.

Virgin America’s A320s feature a first-class section with 21”-wide seats in a 2-2 configuration with 55” seat pitch. The carrier’s Main Cabin Select premium economy lite section offers seats 17.7” wide with 38” seat pitch, while coach seats are also 17.7” in width with a seat pitch of 32”.
