New Ferry to Connect Miami to Grand Bahama Island

FRS Caribbean announced the start of new ferry service from Miami to Freeport on Grand Bahama Island.

The service will be offered three days a week, on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The ferry, named the San Gwann, will depart Miami at 8 a.m. and arrive in at Freeport Harbor at approximately 1 p.m. Return service will depart Freeport at 3 p.m. and arrive back in Miami at 8 p.m.

Saturday service will include a stop in Bimini, the westernmost chain of island in the Bahamas, before continuing on to Freeport.

Passengers can dine at an onboard pub that offers a selection of beer, wine, and cocktails, as well as pizza, burgers, Cuban sandwiches, and fresh-baked pastries. A duty-free shop is also located on the ferry and offers items such as cigars and liquor.

The ferry can seat over 400 passengers, and has economy and business class. Business-class passengers will receive a complimentary snack or breakfast item, as well as priority disembark status and 10% off at the duty-free store.
