IMG_2487 (1)The number of passengers that will fly during this year’s 12-day Thanksgiving holiday period is expected to increase over last year’s figures. The Thanksgiving holiday falls on Thursday, November 23.

Figures released by Airlines for America, an industry trade group, predict that 28.5 million passengers will travel on U.S. airlines during the last two weeks of November. The forecast is a 3% increase over last year’s prediction of 27.3 million.

The trade group estimates that American carriers will fly an average of 2.38 million passengers a day over the 12-day period, which will last from Friday, November 17 through Tuesday, November 28.

The busiest travel days are expected to be Sunday, November 26; the day before Thanksgiving, Wednesday, November 22; and Friday, November 17. As in past years, the least busiest travel day of the holiday period is expected to be Thanksgiving Day itself.
