Lola Travel announced the release of an update of its Lola travel app. The new version of what was originally a consumer focused travel app is entirely repurposed with the business traveler in mind.

The app uses artificial intelligence to give each user what the company calls a “personal travel algorithm” that guides which travel options are then presented. It also includes complimentary access to U.S.-based travel agents who can provide assistance in trip planning and in case of irregular operations.

Lola affords travelers the same benefits as booking directly with an airline or a hotel, thereby allowing travelers to accrue frequent flyer and guest loyalty points with every purchase. The algorithm uses a questionnaire to start and continuously learns from choices made in the app to present similar options for new trips.

The company was founded by Paul English, who started Kayak, a fare aggregator and travel metasearch engine in 2004. That company was sold to the Priceline Group in 2013.
