American Express, Hilton to Launch New Credit Card Portfolio

IMG_7867 (1)American Express and Hilton Hotels announced plans for four new co-branded credit cards.

The Hilton Honors American Express Card will have no annual fee, and new benefits such as seven times Hilton Honors bonus points at Hilton properties, as well as five points per dollar at grocery stores, restaurants, and gas stations in the United States. Additional perks include three points per dollar on all other purchases, complimentary Hilton Honors Silver status followed by Gold status after spending $20.000 in purchases in a year, and no foreign transaction fees.

The Hilton Honors American Express Ascend Card will offer 12 points per dollar at Hilton hotels, six at U.S. grocery stores, restaurants, and gas stations, and three on all other purchases. Cardholders will receive complimentary Gold status, with Diamond status being obtained after $40,000 in purchases in a year.

Additional benefits include a one weekend night reward at a Hilton property after spending $15,000 in a year, ten complimentary Priority Pass lounge passes, and no foreign transaction fees. The card will have a $95 annual fee.

The Hilton Honors American Express Business Card will also have a $95 annual fee, and will offer 12 points per dollar at Hilton hotels, six at gas stations and for wireless telephone services purchases directly from U.S. service producers, and six at restaurants, for flights booked directly with airlines or on American Express’ website, and at select car rental companies. Cardholders will obtain complimentary Gold status, and Diamond status will be awarded after spending $40,000.

Cardholders will receive a Hilton weekend night reward after $15,000 in purchases, and a second one after $60,000. In addition, there are no foreign transaction fees, and cardholders will be given ten free Priority Pass lounge passes.

The Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card will offer 13 points per dollar at hotel, seven on flights booked with an airline or on amextravel.com, at restaurants, and certain car rental companies, and three on all other purchases. Cardholders will receive complimentary Diamond status, as well as one weekend night reward each year of membership and a second night after $60,000 in purchases.

Cardholders will also receive ten free Priority Pass lounge passes. The card will have a $95 annual fee.

American Express will acquire Citi’s Hilton co-branded credit cards in January, and become the exclusive credit card provider for Hilton. At that time, all Citi Hilton co-branded credit card accounts will be transferred to American Express.
