Alaska Air Group Sees Increase in Traffic, Decline in Load Factor in October

IMG_8937 (2)Alaska Air Group announced operational results for October 2017. The carrier saw a rise in traffic and capacity, and a drop in load factor for the month.

System-wide traffic for Alaska Air Group, expressed in revenue passenger miles, or RPMs, increased by 11% year-over-year, up to 4.37 billion RPMs compared to 3.94 billion in October of 2016.

Capacity was 5.21 billion available seat miles, or ASMs, a year-over-year increase of 11.6% from 4.67 billion ASMs.

System-wide load factor for the month was 83.8%, a 0.4 percentage point decline from 84.2% in October 2016.

The figures include flights operated by Alaska Airlines and Virgin America, which the carrier acquired last December, as well as Horizon Air and those operated under third-party capacity purchase agreements. Operational results include Virgin America’s from the pre-acquisition period for the sake of comparison.
