DSC_0825 (1)United Airlines announced that passengers connecting to Star Alliance partner airlines can now receive boarding passes for those airlines on the United smartphone app.

Boarding passes through the app will be available for onward travel on airlines that include Air Canada, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa, and Turkish Airlines.

United said it is the first U.S. airline to offer the service. In order for the feature to work, the first leg must be on a United flight.

Other airlines whose boarding passes are supported include Adria Airways, Aegean Airlines, Air New Zealand, All Nippon Airways, Asiana Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Azul Brazilian Airlines, Cape Air, Croatia Airlines, EVA Airways, LOT Polish Airlines, Scandinavian Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Swiss, and Thai Airways.

Last week, United competitor Delta Air Lines announced it would automatically download a passenger’s boarding pass to the app without the need to check in.
