Marriott International and Ritz-Carlton announced the opening of the Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui in Thailand.

The new resort is on the island of Koh Samui on the Gulf of Thailand, a popular tourist destination. It offers 175 suites and pool villas spread across 58 acres (23 hectares) and amenities include a spa with eight treatment suites, a yoga pavilion, and a lap pool along with a swim reef with over 50 types of fish. The resort was built on a former coconut plantation and the designers used coconut and other natural materials in the guest rooms and public areas.

The Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui provides multiple dining establishments including Pak Tai, offering traditional southern Thai cuisine; Shook, which serves a mixture of Asian and Western dishes; Sea Salt, offering a more international cuisine; and Tides, a poolside bar. The hotel also has its own outdoor food market, Baan Talat, which is not open on a set schedule, and One Rai, a bar and lounge.

Guests can avail themselves of the Muay Thai Gym which has a kickboxing ring and provides instructors, The hotel also offers guests two white sand beaches, and tennis courts.
