DSC_0762InterContinental Hotels Group revealed additional details of its planned “high quality” mid-scale hotel brand. The new hotel chain will be called avid and will coexist alongside mid-scale brands including Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express.

Plans call for construction to start on the first avid hotels in early 2018 with an opening scheduled for early 2019.

The hotelier said that avid will offer “the basics done exceptionally well” at a price per night $10-15 lower than its Holiday Inn Express brand.

Avid hotels will feature plentiful communal space and work areas where guests can relax and work as well as dine. They will offer a complimentary breakfast as well as a market where guests can purchase other items to eat. Wi-Fi will be complimentary and IHG promised that it will offer “the fastest speed in the industry.”

All guestrooms will offer a dedicated work area, ample storage, and a flatscreen television that will allow guests to watch content from their own devices.
