DSC_0825 (1)United Airlines, which employs some 11,000 workers in the area currently under siege by Hurricane Harvey, announced a plan to reward members of its frequent flyer program who donate to charities that support relief efforts in Texas.

The Chicago-based airline will match the first $100,000 raised and award up to three million miles to members of its MileagePlus program who donate to the American Red Cross, AmeriCares, Airlink, or Operation USA via a dedicated web page set up for this purpose.

Members will earn 250 miles for donating $50 to $99; 500 miles for donating $100 to $249; and 1,000 miles for donations of $250 or more.

“The thoughts and hearts of the entire United family are fixed firmly on everyone impacted by Hurricane Harvey,” said the airline’s CEO, Oscar Munoz.

The program will be in place through September 15, 2017.
