DSC_0591Qatar Airways said Wednesday that it no longer plans to take a stake in American Airlines.

“Further review of the proposed financial investment, taking into account the latest public disclosure of American Airlines, has demonstrated that the investment no longer meets our objectives,” the carrier said.

In June, American reported that the Doha-based airline had planned to make “a significant investment” in the Fort Worth-Based carrier.

At the time, Qatar had said that it planned on acquiring as much as 10% of the airline.

Last month, American ended its codeshare agreement with both Qatar and Etihad Airways in response to an ongoing dispute over alleged government subsidies of the region’s carriers.
