DSC_0087All Nippon Airways announced that, beginning September 1, it will start serving sake in its economy class on international flights. The carrier will also open and reopen lounges at Sapporo New Chitose Airport this coming month.

The sake that the airline plans to serve in economy class will be from the well-known Ichinokura brewery in the Miyagi Prefecture. The carrier already offers sake service in its first class, business class, and premium economy class on international flights.

ANA will also debut on September 13 its new ANA Suite Lounge as well as the newly-renovated ANA Lounge for domestic flights at Sapporo. The spaces were designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, and feature elements such as Bohemian glass and long tables with green mosses to evoke the beauty of nature.

Dining options in the lounges are based on ingredients from Hokkaido, the island that Sapporo is located on, including cheese tarts, Hokkaido beer, and onigiri rice balls with Hokkaido-produced rice.
