10 Hospitalized after ‘Severe Turbulence’ on American Airlines Flight from Greece to Philadelphia

DSC_0628 (1)Ten people were hospitalized Saturday after being injured during extreme turbulence on an American Airlines flight from Athens to Philadelphia.

Flight 759, an Airbus A330-300, left Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport at 11:39 a.m. local time bound for Philadelphia International Airport. The aircraft encountered turbulence shortly before landing. A total of 299 people- 287 passengers and 12 crew members – were on board. The flight landed in Philadelphia at 3:10 p.m.

“American Airlines Flight 759 from Athens, Greece to Philadelphia International Airport briefly encountered severe turbulence shortly before landing safely in Philadelphia,” the airline said in a statement adding that the seatbelt sign was on at the time.

Three passengers and seven crewmembers were taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
