Laptop Ban Ends for Etihad Flights out of Abu Dhabi
Passengers traveling from Abu Dhabi International Airport are once again permitted to take their large personal electronic devices, including laptops, on board with them on Etihad Airways flights to the United States.
“We wanted to let you know that you can now take all your electronic devices on board our US flights from Abu Dhabi,” the airline said in a message to its customers including several FBT staff members.
The move is a byproduct of new airport security requirements promulgated by the Department of Homeland Security that obviate the need for a so-called “laptop ban” if the airport’s security checkpoint meets U.S. standards.
“The US Immigration facility at Abu Dhabi Airport not only enables you to clear US immigration before you fly to the US, but with the additional security checks in place, you can now take all your electronic devices safely on board with you,” the airline said.
