Fraport AG, the operator of Frankfurt Airport, announced traffic figures for the month of June, as well as for the first half of 2017.

Passenger traffic was approximately 5.8 million passengers for the month, a 5.3% increase from June 2016. This was the busiest June on record for the operator, which said that it was helped by early parts of summer school vacation in some parts of Germany.

Traffic for the first six months was approximately 50 million passengers, up 4.5% year-over-year, another new record.

Frankfurt Airport also reported a 4.7% year-over-year increase in cargo tonnage for March, the highest monthly growth rate in six years, with 188,256 metric tons of cargo passing through the facility. Cargo throughput for the quarter was nearly 1.1 million metric tons, a 4.8% increase from last year, and the most in six years for the first six months of a year.

The number of aircraft movements for the month increased by 0.9% year-over-year to 41,533 takeoffs and landings, while the figures for the quarter were 227,558 takeoffs and landings, a slight 0.2% decrease year-over-year.
