Delta Sees Increase in June Traffic

Delta Air Lines announced operational results for June 2017.

The Atlanta-based carrier’s total system traffic for the month was 20.83 billion revenue passenger miles, or RPMs, a year-over-year increase of 2.8% from 20.26 billion in June 2016.  Domestic traffic rose 3.9% to 12.45 billion RPMs from 11.98 billion last year, while international traffic increased to 8.38 billion RPMs, a 1.3% rise from 8.27 billion RPMs the previous June.

Total system-wide capacity for the month rose to 23.52 billion available seat miles, or ASMs, from 23.1 billion ASMs, a 1.8% increase. The airline’s domestic capacity was 14.11 billion ASMs, a year-over-year increase of 3.1% from 13.69 billion in June 2016, while international capacity remained steady year-over-year, at 9.41 billion ASMs.

The carrier reported an increase of 0.8 percentage points in its system-wide load factor 88.5% from 87.7% last June.  Delta’s domestic load factor increased by 0.7 percentage points to 88.2% from 87.5%, while its international load factor increased by 1.2 percentage points to 89.1% from last year’s 87.9%.

Delta said that its consolidated passenger unit revenue, or Prasm, for the month increased by 2.5% year-over-year.
