Delta Profit Tumbles in Q2

IMG_4454 (1)Delta Air Lines announced financial results for the second quarter of 2017 ended June 30.

The carrier reported of $1.2 billion, down 21% from $1.5 million for 2016. Revenue, however, was up 3.3% to $10.8 billion.

Passenger unit revenue, a closely watched metric, rose by 2.5%.

“This improvement resulted from a strengthening demand environment and our commercial initiatives to provide customers more choice, an innovative experience, and a broader global network,” said Glen Hauenstein, the airline’s president.

The airline said it expects passenger unit revenue growth of 2.5 to 4.5 percent in the third quarter.

Meanwhile, total passenger revenue rose 3% to $9.23 billion. In addition, traffic for the quarter rose 2.1% to 57.57 billion revenue passenger miles, while capacity rose 0.4% to 66.23 billion available seat miles.
