American Express to Expand Miami Airport Centurion Lounge
American Express plans to expand its popular Centurion lounge at Miami International Airport and has asked Miami-Dade County, which owns the airport, for additional space.
The plans call for a new outdoor terrace as well as significantly more indoor space.
The lounge, which first opened in June 2015, is in the North Terminal and “has become the most popular lounge in the Centurion network, with 380,608 total visitors in the first 12 months of operation,” according to a statement in the legislative filing. Its popularity has translated into waiting lists to enter the club and American Express said this customer satisfaction has been “diminished” because of overcrowding.
The resolution, “authorizing American Express Travel Related Services to construct and occupy additional leased premise,” is on the Miami-Dade County legislature’s agenda for consideration in early September
