DSC_0695American Airlines, which has run into numerous issues with its new uniform design, is beginning the search for a new supplier.

“Today we are announcing that we are starting the process to select a new uniform supplier,” the company said in a memo to employees.

The move comes after numerous complaints that its new flight attendant uniforms, introduced in September 2016 and provided by Twin Hill, were causing allergic reactions in wearers. Last April, the company added an alternative supplier to address the issue.

The new uniforms will be based on the design introduced in September 2016 but will feature new fabrics, the company said.

“Identifying and selecting suppliers who can produce uniforms for 70,000 people is an extensive process that will take 2-3 years,” American said in the memo. “Frontline team member participation – along with union leadership participation – will be a key part of this ongoing process.”
