United Airlines Reports Increased Traffic and a Higher Load Factor for April

DSC_0116 (1)United Airlines announced operational results for April 2017.

The carrier’s consolidated traffic and capacity were up year-over-year, while its load factor also increased for the month.

Total traffic for the Chicago-based airline during the month of April was 17.6 billion RPMs, or revenue passenger miles, an increase of 7.4% from 16.3 billion RPMs in April 2016.  The carrier’s total capacity for the month was up 4% to 21.1 billion ASMs, or available seat miles, from 20.3 billion ASMs last April.

Meanwhile, United’s consolidated load factor was up 2.6 percentage points to 83.1% from 80.5% in April 2016.

United saw a 7% increase in international traffic, while its international capacity rose by 3.8%.  The carrier reported a 7.7% increase in domestic traffic, on a 4.2% rise in domestic capacity.
