The alliance’s chief executive board, which consists of the CEOs of all 28 member airlines, met in Frankfurt on May 14 to commemorate the group’s 20th anniversary and discuss future strategy. The alliance was conceived 20 years ago on May 14, 1997 by founding members Air Canada, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, Thai, and United Airlines.

In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Star Alliance is launching a competition for members of its carriers’ frequent flyer programs.
