DSC_0678Qantas Airways announced will make complimentary gate-to-gate Wi-Fi available on one of its ViaSat-equipped Boeing 737-800s.

The carrier’s gate-to-gate Wi-Fi is powered by nbn and ViaSat. The system will provide speeds typically ten times faster than traditional ground-based in-flight Internet services.

Gate-to-gate Wi-Fi gives passengers access to the Internet on their personal devices from the time they board until they land.

The service on Qantas’ 737-800 is part of a trial that the airline is conducting to fine-tune the system when it officially launches later this year. The carrier will begin installing Internet on its entire fleet of Boeing 737s and Airbus A330s in the coming months.

Passengers can provide feedback about the trial service that will ultimately influence the final product and rollout.
