Air Canada Appoints Vagn Sørensen as Chairman, David Richardson to Retire

DSC_4881Air Canada announced the retirement of David I. Richardson, who has served as chairman of the board since 2008. His departure will become effective on May 5, 2017.

The Canadian carrier also announced the appointment of Vagn Sørensen as its new chairman, effective that date.

Sørensen has served on the airline’s board of directors since 2006 and has extensive experience in the travel industry including a current position as chairman of Scandic Hotels Group and director of Royal Caribbean Cruises. He formerly served as CEO of Austrian Airlines and held various executive positions with SAS.

“I very much look forward to helping Air Canada continue on its path to be among the best global airlines,” said Mr. Sørensen.
