Cathay Pacific, Lufthansa Group Announce Partnership

DSC_1519 (1)Cathy Pacific Airways announced a new partnership with the Lufthansa Group, building on the existing cooperation the two airlines have on freight flights.

Under the new agreement, Lufthansa, Swiss International Air Lines, and Austrian Airlines will be able to place their codes on Cathay Pacific flights from Hong Kong to Sydney, Melbourne, and Cairns, Australia as well as Auckland, New Zealand beginning April 26.

In addition, Cathay Pacific will be able to place its code on Lufthansa, Swiss, and Austrian flights to 14 destinations throughout Europe.

The partnership is also the first code-share agreement for Lufthansa, a founding member of the Star Alliance, with an airline that is part of a rival alliance. Cathay Pacific is a member in oneworld.
