Marriott Debuts Revamped App
Guests will be able to request room upgrades as well as late check-out times from the app. In addition, guests can chat with hotel staff before, during, and after their stay to request special services or amenities.
The revamped app will also support the rollout of Marriott’s mobile key at over 500 hotels this year. A guest can check in and go straight to their room. Once they have downloaded the key onto their smartphone, they can bypass front desk check-in formalities, and use their smartphones to enter their room.
Marriott Rewards members can also check their account activity directly from the app, rather than having to go through the Internet.
The app will also offer original content from Marriott’s digital magazine, Traveler. Content will be specific to each guest based on their previous hotel searches or upcoming trips.
Guests may narrow their searches for hotels by finding the closest and most convenient locations using address or point-of-interest searches. They can also save hotels at which they stay regularly to expedite future booking.
In addition, Marriott said that it plans to launch real-time app messaging, which the hotel company is calling mPlaces, later this year. The new feature will offer hotel and travel information as well as up to date offers for Marriott Rewards members.
The newly updated app is currently available for iOS, and will be available for Android users in the near future.
