Lobby Bar – A Righteous Roundup of FBT News and Views

Out of touch. A federal appeals court upheld a lower court’s temporary suspension of President Donald Trump’s “Foreign Terrorist Entry” executive order on Thursday. “However,” wrote the three judges, “we think banning middle-aged men with orange hair from entering the country could potentially provide us with tremendous security benefits.”

Discotility. Jonathan Spira hops into the driver’s seat of the 2017 Acura MDX AWD Advance. This model embodies several upgrades and enhancements, including a multi-color LED tailpipe, which does little for the car’s performance but provides tailgaters with a fabulous disco party at red lights.

Emoji tax. Depending on your carrier, you most likely do not have to pay for unanswered calls and voicemails when traveling abroad. However, all four major carriers will charge you for use of the heart-eyes emoji. “There is simply no good reason to use that emoji, domestically or abroad,” a spokesman for USASSTIC, the United States Association of Telecommunications Interconnecting Carriers, said in a statement. The spokesman is also rumored to be without a Valentine’s Day date.

Apples and oranges. Join us in Delta’s first class cabin for a short flight to Chicago’s from LaGuardia’s Marine Air Terminal. In an effort to remind passengers about how good its business class bedding feels, Delta outfitted this cabin with steel wool blankets and very thin pillows filled with tiny rocks.

In a galaxy very nearby. You’ve got questions about the 2017 Chicago Auto Show and we’ve got answers. Check out Nissan’s X-Wing inspired Rogue, which is bundled with blasters, thrusters, and its own droid. One caveat: the car cannot be driven in the Milky Way. Galaxy Sold Separately.

Maybe it’s Maplelline. Air Canada debuted new livery for its fleet alongside new uniforms for its employees. The new airplane paint will be made from crushed up maple leaves, which will enhance aerodynamics of the jet, shaving a few seconds off each flight. In addition, sources confirm that it smells downright yummy. There’s no truth to the rumors that the airline is to discontinue lunch and dinner service for a “breakfast, all day, all the time” plan.

Fruit is the key. Marriott Hotels and Resorts redesigned its mobile app for iOS, with an Android version coming soon. The new app lets travelers download their room key to their phones. If you lose your key, just visit your local Apple store to get a new one.

Unwanted magic. Rejoice, for LaGuardia Airport may soon be accessible by AirTrain. Of course, the airport was always accessible by train if you pushed through the wall between platforms 9 and 10 at Kings Cross in London, but it turns out that very few Londoners wanted to fly out of LaGuardia, mainly because the airport’s name is too often confused for the Irish constabulary.
