Once we attained 10,000 feet altitude I logged into the Gogo in-flight Wi-Fi system, at no cost thanks to a special arrangement that T-Mobile has for its customers. Speed was sufficient for texting and reading e-mail on my iPhone 7 Plus.

Once we were close to our cruising altitude of 30,000 feet, the flight attendant working our cabin offered beverages followed by a meal service.

Delta now provides a full lunch on earlier departures even though it was still breakfast time. I opted for the cold cuts sandwich, turning it into a more European-style breakfast of sliced ham and cheese with Dijon mustard. While it was nothing to brag about, it was far more appealing than the hero sandwich that appeared on the tray before modification, especially when accompanied by the rather good (for an airplane) Starbucks coffee the airline serves.

The in-flight service was excellent thanks to the extremely attentive flight attendant up front. Throughout the flight, he was constantly in the aisle offering beverages and snacks

We arrived 14 minutes early and I was one of the first to disembark. My ride to the McCormick Convention Center was waiting and off we went.

With no wait time at the security checkpoint or to board, an early departure, and an even earlier arrival, this quick flight was a good example of how Delta tends to deliver a consistently high level of service throughout its operation. Delta hasn’t announced if it will continue to use the Marine Air Terminal once its new terminal is finished as part of the LaGuardia reconstruction project but I suspect its days are numbered so I will enjoy it now while I still can.
