DSC_0205Severe winter weather is expected to impact the Southeast United States, including Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina, over the coming weekend. The weather is expected to bring several inches of snow and even ice to parts of the East Coast.

The storm will bring light snow Thursday night to southern states including Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia, while Friday will likely bring freezing rain to the three states as well as North and South Carolina. Friday could also bring light patches of snow to areas in eastern Texas and Oklahoma.

Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina, as well as Norfolk and Richmond, Virginia could potentially experience heavy snowfall on Saturday, with some areas expected to receive up to 6” or 15 centimeters of the white stuff.

Travel on the road will be treacherous in these areas, and airports will likely see a number of delays and cancellations over the weekend.
