Good Monday morning. This is what you are waking up to.

Today, January 16, is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday.

Many people have the day off in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy and local, county, state and federal offices and agencies are closed. The United States Post Office won’t be delivering mail although it will still deliver Priority Mail Express items.   Most post offices are closed as well. UPS and FedEx will still be making deliveries, however.

Most banks will also be closed today including JP Morgan Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo.

Meanwhile, more rain is coming to California after last week’s flooding, while a thaw is expected for Central and Eastern states, with the entire eastern half of the lower 48 states experiencing significantly warmer than average temperatures for several days.

Finally, a deadly ice storm is moving into parts of the Midwest, after leaving icy chaos in its wake across parts of the Plains over the weekend. Travelers should expect treacherous conditions on the roads and significant delays in the air.
