Marriott Debuts Pop-Up Innovation Lab for Aloft and Element Hotels

Marriot International announced the opening of a pop-up hotel innovation lab.

The new project, located in downtown Los Angeles, is intended to obtain feedback by allowing hotel guests, employees, and the general public see and experience some of the concepts that Marriott is considering for its Aloft and Element brands.

On the Element side, Marriott is trying a new guest room design with a communal space in the center of four guest rooms, allowing guests to share a lounge area, dining room, and kitchen.

On the Aloft side, the hotelier is experimenting with the use of fresh healthy ingredients such as avocado, quinoa, and spinach in its meals. It will allow diners to order what it calls “pots” which will be customized regional meals in a to-go container.

Other ideas being considered include a portable wine cart that, when activated by a guest’s room key, automatically pours wine.

Marriott currently has 116 Aloft and 23 Element hotels across the globe, with some 225 more in the pipeline.
