Ryanair, the rapidly expanding low-cost Irish carrier, earned the title of the European’s continent’s largest airline based on passengers served last year, based on figures released Tuesday.

In 2016, Ryanair flew some 117 million passengers, a 15% year over year increase from 2015.

Lufthansa Group, including its subsidiaries Austrian, Eurowings, and Swiss, served 109.7 million passengers, up 1.8% from the prior year. The German flag carrier remains Europe’s largest airline by revenue.
