Hyatt Hotels and Resorts announced the acquisition of Miraval, a leading spa operator.

The acquisition involves an initial investment of $215 million by Hyatt for the Miraval brand, as well as for its two resorts, namely the flagship Miraval Arizona Resort and Spa in Tucson, and the Travaasa Resort in Austin, Texas.

Hyatt also plans to invest an additional $160 million over the next few years to fund Miraval’s planned expansion of its Tucson and Austin properties, as well as the spa operator’s plans to acquire and redevelop the Cranwell Spa and Golf Resort in Lennox, Massachusetts.

Hyatt said that the acquisition underscores its commitment to “super-serving” its guests, noting that wellness has become increasingly important to them.
