Fraport AG, the operator of Frankfurt Airport, announced traffic figures for the month of December, as well as for the year 2016.

Passenger traffic was nearly 4.1 million passengers for the month, a 3.9% increase from December 2015, and a record number for the month of December. Traffic for the year was 60.792 million passengers, down 0.4% from last year’s numbers, which Fraport attributed to a slowdown in summer traffic due to geopolitical factors, as well as weather and strike-related flight cancellations later in the year.

Frankfurt Airport also reported a 7.6% year-over-year increase in cargo tonnage for December, with 188,635 metric tons of cargo passing through the facility.

The number of aircraft movements for 2016 declined by 1.1% year-over-year to 462,885 takeoffs and landings.
