The Glen House hotel in Pinkham Notch, a mountain pass in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, will get a new lease on life come next May.

The original Glen House was built in 1852. Since then, four different iterations of the property have existed, and the fifth will be located on the west side of Route 16, near the base of the historic Mt. Washington Auto Road.

The hotel will be situated where the which burned down nearly 50 years ago, was located. The building will have classic New England design elements, including clapboards, painted trim, and signature chimneys similar to those at the previous versions of the hotel.

The interior will be designed to evoke the history of Mt. Washington Auto Road and local Native American roots.

The new three-story structure will have 68 guestrooms, half of which will feature balconies facing Mt. Washington. A restaurant and indoor pool will also be located on the property.

The hotel will be managed by Olympia Hotel Management, a company that develops and manages independent hotel properties.

Mt. Washington is the highest peak in New Hampshire’s White Mountains, a range that covers a quarter of the state.
