Theatergoers rejoice! In its upcoming Apple Watch operating system, the Cupertino-based company will add a Theater Mode setting. The new option will lessen the likelihood of disturbing the sanctity (and darkness) of the Old Vic, Theatre Royale, Lyceum, Music Box, and other venues during a performance.

Theater mode will mute the watch (if it isn’t muted already) and turn off the lift-to-wake function so the device will no longer light up when its wearer raises his hand in the middle of a Broadway show, movie, or concert. The watch will otherwise continue to operate normally, essentially operating in a partial do-not-disturb mode.

While Theater Mode is active, the user can still tap the screen or crown to view any alerts that might have been triggered.

The new feature will be available in watchOS 3.2, which was recently released to developers. The final release date for the update is yet to be announced.
