Upgrade Planned for Copenhagen Airport
Copenhagen Airport may be getting a makeover.
TThe Danish government announced a 20 billion kroner ($2.8 billion) plan that calls for the expansion of the western part of the airport allowing more aircraft to park at one time.
The airport currently provides 108 jet bridge and remote parking stands and the airport’s CEO, Thomas Woldbye, said that traffic has increased greatly in recent years and that the airport would run out of room without the expansion.
Copenhagen Airport not only serves the city of Hans Christian Andersen but also the entire Zeeland, the Øresund Region, and a large part of southern Sweden. It is one of Scandinavian Airlines’ three main hubs and an operating base for Norwegian Air and Thomas Cook.
In order to move forward, the plan requires approval by the country’s parliament.
