DSC_0668 (1)The oneworld alliance announced a new Explorer round-the-world fare with flights exclusively in the southern hemisphere.

The new fare became possible thanks to the recent start of service by Latam Airlines between São Paulo, Brazil, and Johannesburg, South Africa. It marks the first time a circumnavigation of the globe south of the equator will be possible solely on oneworld member carriers.

The new Explorer fare will cover three continents, Australia, Africa, and South America. It allows routing in either a westerly or easterly direction and all flights within each continent in the same general heading are included.

Oneworld member Qantas, the Australian flag carrier, offers service between Johannesburg and Sydney and both Latam and Qantas link Sydney with the option of a stop in New Zealand before continuing on to Latam’s extensive network in South America.
