Delta Air Lines announced that it agreed to cancel an order with Boeing for 18 787 Dreamliner aircraft that the carrier assumed after it merged with Northwest Airlines in 2008.

The order was originally placed by Northwest in 2005.

Delta said that specific terms of the agreement have not been disclosed, though the airline will continue to take delivery of new Boeing 737-900ER aircraft through 2019.

Delta had deferred the Dreamliner order in 2010 to a post-2020 delivery date.
