Apple has updated its Maps app, adding real-time traffic data from four European countries and territories.

Drivers in three countries in Eastern Europe, Bulgaria, Slovakia, and Slovenia, as well as in Gibraltar, a small British Overseas Territory on Spain’s south coast, will receive real-time data on traffic conditions along their planned route.

Real-time traffic information provides drivers with a visual indication of traffic along a planned route and the app uses it to calculate an estimated time of arrival. The system provides information about what is causing traffic slowdowns and backups and, if necessary, will offer alternative routes that are faster based on current traffic conditions.

The service is available in over 40 countries including Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
