Alaska Air Group Sees Traffic Increase for October
Alaska Air Group announced operational results for October 2016.
System-wide traffic for Alaska Air Group, expressed in revenue passenger miles or RPMs, increased by 5.5% year-over-year, up to 2.91 billion RPMs from 2.76 billion in October of 2015.
Capacity was 3.45 billion ASMs, a year-over-year increase of 3.2% from 3.35 billion ASMs.
System-wide load factor for the month was 84.2%, a 1.9 percentage points increase from October 2015’s load factor of 82.3%.
For mainline flying, Alaska saw a 4.5% increase in traffic on a 2% increase in capacity as well as 2 percentage point increase in load factor to 84.8%. The airline said that 87.6% of its flights were on time in October, a 0.6 percentage point decrease from the 88.2% reported in October 2015.
In regional operations, there was a 14.2% increase in traffic on a 12.9% increase in capacity year-over-year, along with a 0.9 percentage point increase in load factor to 79.5%. Alaska’s regional flights were on time 85.5% of the time, a slight increase over the 84.5% reported in October 2015.
