DSC_0819Southwest Airlines announced operational results for September 2016.

The carrier’s total system traffic was 9.938 billion RPMs, or revenue passenger miles, a year-over-year increase of 7.7% from 9.206 billion RPMs in September 2015.

The airline reported a total system capacity of 11.797 billion ASMs, or available seat miles, up 6% from 11.133 billion the previous September.

Meanwhile, Southwest had a load factor of 84.2% for the month, which was a 1.5 percentage point decrease from 82.7% the preceding September.

Southwest forecast a drop of 3.5% to 4.5% in RASM for the third quarter, attributing approximately 0.5% of it to numerous delays and over 2,000 cancellations following a computer outage this past July.
