GOL Lineas Aereas announced that it launched its first aircraft with in-flight Internet service.

The Boeing 737-800 is equipped with Gogo’s 2Ku technology, and will be deployed on the airline’s domestic and international routes.

GOL said that its second Wi-Fi-equipped aircraft will be put into service on October 6. The carrier also stated that its entire fleet will be equipped with the service by October of 2018.

Gogo’s 2Ku system offers speeds of a minimum of 70 Mbps to the aircraft, seven times faster than Gogo’s fastest air-to-ground network.  It uses two Ku-band connections to send and receive data between the plane and an orbiting satellite.
