The developers of a new hotel located opposite Wrigley Field in Chicago announced it will be called the Hotel Zachary, named after Wrigley Field architect Zachary Taylor Davis.

The new hotel, which is slated to open in time for opening day at Wrigley Field, is owned by a company controlled by the owners of the Chicago Cubs baseball team, which plays at the stadium, and will be a Starwood hotel.

The Zachary will offer 175 guest rooms and 1,500 square feet (140 square meters) of meeting space. It will also be the only Starwood property to have a McDonald’s as one of its restaurants in addition to dining establishments from four local restaurateurs.

Despite its location, the décor will shun baseball and be more cosmopolitan, although food and drink at the hotel’s bar, which will be operated by Matthias Merges, of the Folkart group that owns cocktail bar Billy Sunday on Logan Square, will harken back to the period when Wrigley Field first opened.
