Lufthansa German Airlines said it has officially joined the Transportation Security Administration’s PreCheck program. The airline is the first European carrier to be authorized by the TSA to offer its passengers the expedited service.

All Lufthansa passengers who are enrolled in Global Entry, Nexus, Sentri, or the TSA PreCheck program are eligible to use PreCheck security lanes, as are active duty U.S. military members.

Passengers at a PreCheck security checkpoint do not have to remove shoes, belts, and light jackets during the screening, and can leave laptops and liquids in their carry-on luggage.

The Transportation Security Administration expanded the PreCheck trusted traveler program to include non-U.S. airlines in April 2014.  The first such airline to participate was Air Canada.
