DSC_0825United Airlines announced operational results for July 2016. The carrier’s consolidated traffic, capacity, and load factor were all up year-over-year for the month.

Total traffic for the Chicago-based airline during the month of July was 20.709 billion RPMs, or revenue passenger miles, an increase of 1.2% from 20.462 billion RPMs in July 2015.  The carrier’s total capacity for the month was up 0.5%, to 23.761 billion ASMs, or available seat miles, from 23.509 billion ASMs last July.

Meanwhile, United’s consolidated load factor increased slightly, up 0.5 percentage points to 87.5% from 87% in July 2015.

In terms of international traffic, United saw an increase of 3.2%, while its international capacity rose by 2.2%.  The carrier saw a 0.2% increase in domestic traffic, with a 0.4% drop in domestic capacity.

The nation’s fourth largest carrier said it expects second quarter consolidated passenger unit revenue to decline 5.5% to 7.5% compared to Q3 2015, citing declining close-in yields, lower surcharges, competitive actions and travel reductions in the energy sector.
