4.) Czech Republic

The Czech Republic, which recently renamed itself Czechia, is known for some of the world’s finest beer, and music including the Moldau, a musical depiction by Bedřich Smetana of that river’s course through Bohemia.

The capital city of Prague, known as Praha in Czech, is situated along the Vlatva River (Moldau in German) and is the political, cultural, and economic center of the country.

Outside the capital, Pilsen, known worldwide as the home of Pilsner beer and the brewery Pilsner Urquell, offers visitors the magnificent Great Synagogue and St. Bartholemew’s Cathedral as well as the Renaissance-style Town Hall.

5.) Switzerland

Switzerland, a favorite destination for skiers and hikers alike, is home to numerous lakes, villages, and the Swiss Alps. Known as much for watches and chocolate as banking, the Swiss Confederation is at the crossroads of Germanic and Romance Europe, with four national languages and cultural regions: German, French, Italian, and Romansch.

Most visitors arrive either in Geneva, a lakeside hub of diplomacy, or Zürich, a center for banking, but trips to medieval towns such as Basel and Lausanne, the country’s Olympic city, are highly recommended.

6.) Canada

The world’s second largest land mass is known for its vibrant cities, multicultural heritage, more lakes than any other country, and all things maple.

The World Health Organization reported Canada has the third cleanest air in the world. Whether you visit French-speaking Montréal, Vancouver on the Pacific coast, or Ottawa, the nation’s capital, you’re bound to receive a hearty welcome.
