DSC_0890Allegiant Air announced an order for 12 Airbus A320ceo aircraft. The ceo designation indicates the “current engine option” model of the planes.

The single-aisle planes feature sharklet wing tips and will be up to 4% more fuel efficient than current jets.  They also have their range extended by up to 100 nautical miles (185 kilometers).

Presently, Allegiant’s fleet consists of 15 A319ceos and 16 A320ceos.

To date, Airbus has had approximately 12,600 orders for the A320 family from over 400 customers worldwide.
