Uber Offering 75% Discount in New York City

Ride-hailing service Uber is offering existing customers in New York City a 75% discount on their next five rides.

The targeted offer, which the company said is non-transferable, is being made by e-mail and is available on uberX and uberPool rides with a maximum discount of $10 per ride. The discount does not apply to surcharges or bridge, tunnel, or highway tolls.

“With 75% off your next 5 rides, you’re sure to have some extra pep in your Monday step,” Uber stated in the e-mail.

In January of this year, Uber lowered its fares in 100 cities in the United States and Canada, citing a “winter slump.” This included a 15% drop in prices in New York City. At the time, the company said it was taking this step to keep its drivers busier and decrease the idle time they experience.
